The Buller River, alias the descriptive Maori name "Kawatiri" meaning "swift and deep," winds irresistibly through the heavily forested Buller Gorge. The entry of the Buller River into the Tasman Sea at Westport seems sedate compared to the thrills that await adventurers along its reaches: Westport is home to Buller Adventure Tours, the people who put these adventures within your reach.
