New Zealand is one of the last areas in the world to be discovered as a major surfing destination. It’s many kilometers of scenic coast are constantly pounded by swells from all angles, and with both coasts being so close together, it allows us to find quality waves every day so you never have any downtime. This cannot be said about many other countries.
Whether you are a serious surfer or a visitor looking to taste the surfer’s lifestyle, we have surf tours, schools and camps to suit. Our packages will feed your soul with surf and adventure. We will provide you with a surf experience that will last you a lifetime with uncrowded waves, breathtaking New Zealand scenery and a true taste of kiwi culture.
The waves you will surf are as good and consistent as anywhere in the world. You have the choice of beach breaks, river bars, point breaks, and reef breaks. On our surf camps we always find good quality waves that suit all levels.
In summer, the temperature can reach around 30 degrees Celsius / 86 Fahrenheit. This means that you will be able to surf the North Island spots in board shorts, although a light spring suit is recommended. In the winter the water still remains OK in the North of the North Island, although a steamer is needed. Booties are recommended the further south you go.
Average water temperatures range from 12 degrees Celsius / 54 Fahrenheit in the winter to 22 degrees Celsius / 72 Fahrenheit in the summer.

You will learn the fundamentals of surfing, surf safety, and be standing up in no time. You will also gain a better understanding of 'soul surfing' where you get to appreciate and respect your environment and the people around you. This is a professional surf lesson carried out by some of New Zealand's leading instructors who have taught many before you. The day normally starts with a flat-water session where we teach you how to paddle your board efficiently, sit on your board, Eskimo roll, duck dive and a few safety drills. After we have done our flat-water session it's lunchtime and we sit down to discuss the potential hazards at surf beaches and how to avoid them.
The topics covered are:
* Rips, holes and undertows, how to identify them and how to get out of them. * Weather pattens and how waves are formed. * The difference between off shores, on shores and afternoon sea breezes. * The different types of waves and how the tide can affect them.
After lunch it's back in the water and the instructor works closely with you to make you feel comfortable and reach that ultimate goal of standing up!

The 5 Day Tour is a surf surfari for beginnners to advanced alike. Our custom tailored surf wagon gets you on the beach to remote locations where you can learn to surf in uncrowded conditions. Our tour takes us to the sub-tropical waters and climate of the winterless North, which offers a variety of waves to suit all abilities.
There are always surprises and last second detours on this trip. Tangaroa and Tawhirimatea, (the gods of the ocean and the elements) ultimately dictate our itinerary. Surfing is all about tide and weather conditions hence the flexible nature of our trip. We base ourselves in Shipwreck bay and head out every day chasing the best waves northland has to offer.
This tour includes:
* 5 days surfing. * 4 nights accommodation, dormitory style at surf lodges and back packers. Upgrades to Twin and Double are also available (twin $50 and double $75 per night). * 3 fresh meals daily. And yes, we do cater for vegetarians. Lunch on Monday and Friday is at your own expense while in transit. * All transportation including pick up and drop off from Auckland city. * Real surfboards, body boards (by request), wetsuits, and accessories. * Daily Surf Lessons. * Beach activities including dune boarding; spotting dolphins, whales and wild horses; and see amazing sunsets as they slide into the ocean.

Participant Guidelines: We provide all equipment, some meals, accommodation and transfers. No surfing experience is necessary - we'll teach you all there is to know! Remember to bring personal items, sunscreen, sunglasses, towel, party funds and lots of energy.
We offer different packages depending on what you need to hire. If you have your own board and wetsuit, pay only $599. If you need to hire board and wetsuit, pay only $699.
