A pleasant drive of one and a half hours from Opotiki takes you through the beautiful scenic coastal road to Oceanside Apartments.
Fully self contained motel units with spectacular ocean views. From the lovely white sandy beach in Waihau Bay we operate Waihau Bay Charters. Black, blue and striped marlin, Tuna, albacore and mahi-mahi are abundant for the big game fisherman, or bottom and strayline fishing for snapper, Terekihi, Kawahai, hapuka, and the mighty yellowtail kingfish, which can attain weights in excess of 100lb. Superb landbased fishing is available almost on your doorstep, or use our purpose built bowsprit for rock drops.
If Diving is your preference, the regions remoteness offers beautiful diving scenery and an abundance of crayfish. In 2002 the American based scuba schools International presented Barry with the platinum Pro Instructors 5000 award which is the most meritorious award in diving. With over 40 years experience as a professional diver, your diving experience on the East coast will be safe as well as exciting.
Cost for Fishing Charters:
$ 50.00 per hour with a minimum of 4 hours for the boat, plus $ 10.00 per person per day for rod hire and the cost of bait used.
Cost for game fishing:
$ 80.00 per hour with a minimum of 4 hours for the boat, plus $ 10.00 per person per day for rod and lure hire.
Cost for Diving Charter:
$ 50.00 per hour with a minimum of 4 hours.
You will need to bring all your own diving aquipment, however we do have some spare tanks if requiried.
Accommodation:
$ 100.00 for two people and $15.00 for each extra adult. All meals can be provided if required.
We can also arrange for your enjoyment, guided historical walks, jet boat trips up the mighty Motu river and horse treks on remote stations.
