We offer river experiences suitable to most ages and fitness levels, from our Grade 2 ‘Family Fun Rafting' trip on the calmer stretches of the Buller River, to our Grade 4 action packed whitewater raft trip on the ‘Earthquake Slip Rapids' in the tunning Upper Buller Gorge.

River Safety:
White Water Action Rafting Tours has an excellent safety record and every effort is made to ensure your trip is safe and enjoyable. We are members of the New Zealand Commercial Rafting Association and our operation is in compliance with the Maritime Safety Authority Rules and Regulations for commercial rafting and we are audited annually.
All our river guides hold a current First Aid Certificate and are registered with the MSA in conjunction with the NZ Commercial Rafting Association.
White Water Action Rafting Tours holds a Transport Operators License and our vehicles are licensed to carry passengers and all our drivers hold a Passenger Service License.
Earthquake Slip Rapids - Grade 4
This 3 hour river adventure on the mighty Buller, The West Coast's largest volume river, provides a variety of invigorating experiences. Our professional river guides cater for all thrill levels with fun, adventures and safety being the main ingredients.
River challenges include options such as a Grade 2 swim rapid, a 9m cliff jump and for the adrenaline junkies, self bailing inflatable kayaks. Between rapids, drift through tranquil pools and absorb the spectacular sub tropical West Coast scenery while listening to native bird song, earthquake history and tales of the early pioneers.
The Inangahua Earthquake, which measured 7 on the Ricter scale, created the Earthquake Slip Rapids in May 1968. New Zealand's river gradig system grades rivers 1-5, 1 being the easiest and 5 the hardest. The Earthquake Slip Rapids area mixture of Grade 3 & 4 and provide the mostentertaining whitewater on the Buller River, which maintains consistent summer flows.
Your quality river journey finishes with a riverside 'sausage sizzle', wholegrain bread, delicious fresh salad, cookies and hot or cold refreshments.
